Spain has more than 650,000 women entrepreneurs, according to the latest 'GEM Special Report on Female Entrepreneurship'. Of these, 70% start their businesses out of opportunity, more than 50% have a higher level of education and only 20% expect to generate more than 6 jobs in the next few years.
To analyze the situation of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in our country and share the challenges and opportunities offered by the market, Aticco hosted the II Think Tank of Madrid Tech City on March 10. Madrid Tech City. The event, which brought together more than 30 female professionals, was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Madrid City Council, Begoña Villacís. During the event, the importance of all the female entrepreneurs who have launched or reinvented themselves by setting up their projects of value for the entire Community of Madrid, facing every day the restrictions and limitations caused by the coronavirus, was highlighted.
According to Begoña Villacís, »The more people there are like you, entrepreneurs, the richer society is because you get out of your comfort zone. It is important to appreciate the margin of risk and instability that you take when you decide to set up your own business venture»..
In this sense, for the deputy mayor, »now is the time for entrepreneurship. »It is the time to take action. Obviously, the pandemic is having many negative and devastating effects for the population, but it has also served to transform society. If there is perseverance and belief in the project, it can be achieved.».
In addition to the representative of the Executive of the Madrid City Council, also present was María G. Picamonte, from España Nación Emprendedora, a brand created by the current Government of Spain to support initiatives related to innovative entrepreneurship and the creation of RENACE, the National Network of Entrepreneurship Centers, a network of incubators and accelerators and venture builders with the capacity to develop talent.
In the words of María G. Piamonte, »Spain Entrepreneurial Nation was born out of the need to create an organization that promotes entrepreneurship in our country. We aspire for innovation to become the balance of change. When an entrepreneurial ecosystem grows, the rest of the social pyramid grows.».
The event was moderated by the president of Madrid Tech City and City Manager of Aticco María de Molina, Javier Esteban, for whom »this initiative serves to connect and get to know each other from all kinds of sectors, both from the public and private spheres»..
