Last Tuesday, April 20, we celebrated the opening ceremony of the HUB del Màrqueting i la Comunicació de Catalunya, a project promoted by the Col-legi del Màrqueting, la Comunicació, la Publicitat i les Relacions Públiques de Catalunya and Aticco.
This new space, where talent and creativity coexist, aims to become an acceleration engine and point of reference for the sector. An ecosystem where brands, digital marketing companies, media, advertising and communication agencies, technology providers, production companies, design studios and any actor that has activity in this sector meet.
The project has the institutional support of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Diputació de Barcelona and the Ajuntament de Barcelona. The presentation ceremony was attended by Ignacio Genovès, General Director of Media of the Generalitat de Catalunya; Eva María Menor, President Delegate of the Area of Economic Development, Tourism and Commerce of the Diputació de Barcelona; Laia Bonet, Third Deputy Mayor of the Ajuntament de Barcelona and Lluís Juncà , General Director of Economic Promotion, Competition and Regulation, Generalitat de Catalunya.
In their speeches, they highlighted the role that EL HUB will have as a driver not only of the communication sector, but also the contribution it will have on the economy of the city and the country in general, by becoming a major player to initiate synergies within the communication, marketing and public relations industry.
In the words of Genovés: »Barcelona and Catalonia do not have the role of leaders at the moment, and I believe that the HUB will be an important element that will allow us to regain leadership in Europe». For her part, Eva María Menor mentioned the need for collaboration between public entities and the private sector and, as a result of the role that EL HUB will have, she emphasized the need to break down barriers: »Before, communication companies did not look at each other and projects like this one highlight the need for collaboration, which is very important when it comes to developing the economy of this sector».
Similarly, Lluís Juncà also referred to the need for collaboration, which »has often been portrayed as a second-class tool, when it is a fundamental tool», both when it comes to doing business and building a society, and he also highlighted the vision for the future of eL HUB: »Catalonia must think big and carry out ambitious projects».
The third deputy mayor, Laia Bonet, emphasized that EL HUB is an »essential» project, due to »the capacity it has to generate opportunities», not only for those initiatives that are integrated, but also »for the city, for the country and beyond».
Rosa Romà, dean of the Col-legi del Màrqueting i la Comunicació stressed the need for this project, since corporate communication, advertising and public relations have become crucial for companies: »Currently there is no company that does not work with a view to building a brand, and at the Col-legi we are specialists in that». In this way, Romà added that »the HUB can represent for Catalan industries a facility for business projects to have a great depth. The HUB means wealth for the country».
Gabriel Espín, for his part, emphasized the role of Aticco as a mobilizing agent for entrepreneurship in Barcelona and Catalonia: »We are not only 'cool' buildings, but we are also dynamizers, we sell this dynamization of companies to be able to add up and be stronger». And he added the role of marketing and communication within companies: »The communication sector helps companies to have more turnover, which means having more wealth. Being able to host The HUB means that we can generate even more turnover and wealth for these companies». The CEO of Aticco also mentioned coworking as a 'prototype' hub: »Our offices are a breeding ground for things to happen».
