Today, November 14th, is World Usability Day. It celebrates the fact that both user experience and design have become key factors in the digital transformation of companies. Both aspects allow products and services to provide real value in people's lives.
But, what is usability?
The term usability is mainly used in the technological field and is related to the ease with which a user uses a website, an app, mobile phone, etc. with which we interact regularly to achieve a specific goal.
Therefore, user experience design aims to give people a better experience, which allows us to create a loyal relationship with the customer that lasts longer.
For this relationship to exist, you have to look at a series of parameters such as:
- Ease of learning or Learnability: How users perceive the design at first glance and if it is easy to understand
2. Efficiency: How long it takes the user to perform actions, according to the product's operation.
3. Being remembered or memorability: That the user, when using the product again, remembers the ease of use.
4. Efficiency: As a user has the facility to go back in the steps he has been following and solve them if he has made a mistake.
5. Satisfaction: That the user has felt satisfied when easily and simply using the product.
To evaluate these parameters, the best way to do it is to test with real users to see how they interact, get their feedback, and then make the corresponding changes to improve the experience.
Designing for the future we want
“Designing for the future we want” is the motto of this year's World Usability Day. It is inspired by the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations.
World Usability Day was born as an initiative of the Usability Professionals Association in 2005. But, what is the point of celebrating this day? After all, its objective is to raise awareness among people about how essential it is to design products or processes, from day to day, so that they are more practical and easy.
And in this way, make people's lives more accessible. In addition to promoting the importance of the human factor within technological development.
Usability in coworking
For technology companies, it is essential to test the products they are developing and evaluate what works and what doesn't. To do this, they conduct user tests, which allow them to anticipate problems that their customers might have.
Being surrounded by a diverse community like Aticco's, makes it easier to find the perfect candidates for these tests. From designers and programmers to profiles more removed from the digital world... Companies can choose according to the type of feedback they want to receive.
In addition, sharing experiences from the product design process can be very useful for learning from the mistakes others have already made and being more agile in improving beta versions.
Happy World Usability Day!
