Reasons to choose coworking for startups

More and more entrepreneurs prefer to work from coworking spaces for startups.
In recent years, Spain has become a cradle of entrepreneurship. According to data provided by the INE, in the first half of 2021, the creation of companies grew 57.6% more than in 2020 and 8.6% more than in 2019. This reveals the upward trend that the entrepreneurship ecosystem is following.
The Spanish entrepreneurial ecosystem is directly altering the profile of coworking users, one of the ideal spaces to interact with similar startups and exchange ideas.
In this sense, 42% of the participants in the survey published in the latest study of "Flexible Spaces in Spain 2021", prepared by the consultant Cushman & Wakefield together with ProWorkSpaces, reveal that in the last year a quarter of the companies that demanded their flexible spaces were startups and entrepreneurs.
According to Paula Ferrer, Head of People at Cobee, a company located in one of the coworking spaces of Aticco, the reasons why more and more startups are developing their projects in flexible workspaces lie in the fact that “you feel that you are in a space of creation and innovation”.
The benefits of coworking for the startups of the future
There are numerous advantages that these coworking spaces offer to new companies, those startups that are beginning to take their first steps and are in full growth. On the occasion of World Entrepreneurship Day, this April 16th, we show the main benefits of coworking spaces from the hand of different entrepreneurs who have decided to establish their businesses in our spaces.
-
Save costs and increase productivity:
Coworking has been presented for years as an innovative way to have a workspace; without the high cost of owning an office. In this sense, Ferran Estalella, co-founder of Freeverse, adds:
“In a coworking space, you directly enter and dedicate yourself to your own thing, which is working on your business, without thinking about all the services and work that the maintenance of offices requires. That is priceless. In addition, you benefit from a multicultural environment and atmosphere that is very enriching.”
-
The flexibility of coworking for startups:
Compared to conventional offices, coworking spaces usually offer flexible plans that adapt to the growth of teams. In this sense, Paula Ferrer explains that they came to Aticco precisely looking for adaptability:
“At Cobee we were in our own offices, which had become too small for us. We also had growth objectives of more than 100% of the team in 6 months, so we needed a space that would allow us to be flexible .”
-
Being part of a community:
Creating community is something that coworking spaces are very aware of. For this reason, breakfasts, sports or creative activities are usually organised, which create a feeling of belonging among users. This is explained by Pilar Moliné, founder of Becadvisor:
“What I look for in a coworking space is community. Sometimes while you are undertaking you have blockages with simple things, here you can solve them thanks to the advice of other coworkers”.
-
Expand your training:
Training is another key aspect that characterizes flexible spaces, where a multitude of training or inspirational events are held; offering support in projects and to professionals.
In the case of Aticco, we have launched startup acceleration programs through the open innovation support platform AticcoLab that offers mentoring, training and, of course, a workspace in the coworking centers for startups of Aticco Workspaces in Barcelona and Madrid.
