4 formulas to increase labor productivity

6 Feb 2018

Although it may not seem like it, labor productivity says a lot about us.. It goes hand in hand with individual productivity; this means that the more productive we are at work, the more productive we will be on a personal level.

But here's the question, how do we know if we are being productive in the workplace? Well. To do this, we must look at the results we are getting in our job. The first thing you need to know is that a person is not more productive for working 12 hours, quite the contrary. You are being productive if you do more in less time. As Mies van der Rohe once said: less is more.

Our task as an employee of a company is, among other things, to fulfill the company's objectives. On the other hand (and this should always be the case), it is very important for the company to be aware of possible internal problems that may affect its employees. After all, without them, no company can survive, can it?

While it is true that each person works in his or her own way (whether or not it is the best way, of course), there are some formulas for all of us to increase our work productivity and to be able to carry out these tricks day by day until they become a habit.

Duration of the working day

Full time, part time, split time... there are different employment contracts with a maximum total of 40 hours per week. Each company sets the schedule and it is possible that some workdays exceed 10 hours a day. For what purpose? A priori, it may seem that employees give more of ourselves and do more work. This is not so, because it is when we are tired that we are much less productive.

2. Accumulation of different tasks

What is known as multitasking is a real threat to the employee. Certainly, it is impossible or very difficult to perform many different tasks at the same time, as our ability to concentrate decreases. The result, therefore, will be poor as opposed to performing a single task.

3. The order of the tasks to be performed

You arrive at your workplace, you organize the tasks for the day and think: I'll leave this more complex one for last. Wrong! It is more convenient to leave aside the simple tasks and do the one that will take you the most time first. Take advantage of the energy with which you start your day to finish the most complicated and costly.

4. Positive attitude

Of course, it is much easier to get advice and follow guidelines, but you also have to do your part. Work must always be done with a proactive and, of course, positive attitude. We have to give our best in order to be confident that we will achieve the goals we set ourselves every day in the professional field. We must not become obsessed with doing our homework against the clock. Remember that everything always goes better slowly and with good handwriting.

Although there are many habits that you can apply to your daily life, we believe that the basis should be based on these four. The main thing to make your productivity at work a success is that you dedicate yourself to what you like the most. Once you manage to combine your tastes and your job, the rest will follow.

Of course, the environment in which you surround yourself and carry out your tasks is very, very important. As we have said many times, it is a plus to relate with other people in the work field. These relationships will help your motivation and make the routine of going to work much better.
