On January 21, 22 and 23, 2022 January 21, 22 and 23, 2022 more than 1,500 women from more than 50 different countries countries (including Spain, the United States, Australia and Peru) participated in the online hackathon The International FemHack: the first FemHack Hackathon with an all-female participation accompanied by conferences educational conferences given by women leaders in the technology sector.
The event was organized and coordinated online by NUWE from our facilities, the coworking and flexible work spaces of Aticco Workspaces in the city of Barcelona.
The Hackathon (or programming competition) was designed to be suitable for all levels and offered competition in the following categories Web, Mobile and/or Data Development. The tests consisted of an individual challenge and another group challengeThe tests consisted of an individual and a group challenge, in which participants from different modalities had to join together to achieve the best score.
The event also included a series of conferences, open to all, given by women leaders in the technology sector. The themes of the lectures were varied, but all offered inspiration, female references and motivation.
Our innovation director participated as a speaker at the FemHack hackathon.

What made the event stand out was the active participation of the leading companies Novartis y Banco Santander. These not only participated as sponsors of the event, but also as a recruiting companies with the intention of capturing female talent.
NUWE set up a meeting space between participants aspiring to find employment and these companies through the virtual simulation platform Gather.
In addition to numerous prizes for the winners of each mode of the Hackathon (including a 23.8" Huawei display), the prestigious programming schools Ironhack, CodeOp, 4Geeks Academy y Assembler Institute of Technology offered scholarships for their courses and master's degrees to all the participants of the event who were interested, the latter offering a 100% scholarship for the Software Development master's degree to one of the winners of the Hackathon.
With The International FemHack, NUWE's objective was to give more visibility to women in the technology sector, increase female recruitment and create references for the new generations.
So, during a weekend women from different parts of the world challenged the algorithm of gender inequality in the technology sector, and they will continue (and we will continue) to do so until it is no longer necessary to organize this type of hackathon as The International FemHack.
