If you are one of those who look at the calendar visualizing all the work you have left to do, we propose a game. Choose 4 days of the month and reserve them to do something fun. Drinks with friends, an outdoor getaway, a movie session or just a walk on the beach. Mark them in some way and in times of stress, look at them and you will make the month more bearable.
At Aticco we love to play this game and we do it very often. We always mark the first Friday of each month because we know that starting off well is important. We also use it as an excuse, because we love to have fun, socialize... and after working all week on different projects, what better than »giving us a joy for the body». That's why we organize an event with our community every First Friday, this way we get energized and motivated for the rest of the month.
This was one of the main main reasons that led us to create the First Fridays and make them fashionable on our terrace of Aticco.
However, you may ask, what's in this type of event? It all depends on the season we are in. First Fridays always have a defined theme around which the whole event is organized. For example, if it is spring we can make a paellada, if it is winter a calçotada, if it is summer a summer party and if some other month coincides with national or international festivals such as the April Fair or Oktoberfest, we re-create them.
Within the First Fridays, the food and drink must be related to the chosen theme, so we give coworkers from other countries the opportunity to learn about different traditions and products. And at the same time, they can bring their customs and make them known to the rest. This was the case a few months ago, we organized an international First Friday, where everyone brought a typical dish from their country. It was a lot of fun to try new things and to get to know other cultures. There is nothing better than being surrounded by an international and diverse community.
We also have a collaborative music list that we are building together and allows most musical tastes to be represented. A fun way to get to know other types of songs and meet new artists, even some new genres.
How did the first Fridays start?
From Aticco we wanted to create a dynamic of socialization that would please and attract everyone. And there was no better way than bringing our community together one day a month with a different theme.

The first week of the month, all the new coworkers come in and we thought it was important to welcome them as a community. This way, apart from having fun together, we can introduce the newcomers and strengthen the first bonds with them. It is a way for the older coworkers to get to know the »newcomers». First Fridays are highly valued by coworkers and also generate expectations about the possible topics to be discussed.
The main objective is to strengthen the power of our community, creating new working relationships, friendships and... who knows if anything else 😉.
The first friday of February: A traditional Catalan calçotada
One of the last ones we have done, was last February 1st, celebrating a good Catalan calçotada. In addition to being calçots season, we wanted our coworkers to know some gastronomic tradition of Catalonia.
For those who do not know what a calçotada is : it is a gathering of family or friends that takes place during the months of January, February and March. In it calçots are eaten, which are a type of vegetable of the onion family, which is cooked on the grill and seasoned with a sauce called Romesco. And it is accompanied by grilled meat.
The way to eat them is very particular, since they are eaten with the hands. For this reason, we gave our coworkers a bib, which is the typical outfit of a calçotada, as tradition dictates.
After the good meal, came the after-dinner conversation and drinks, but it wasn't all going to be so chill... chill... we continued with some good dances accompanied by the music of the resident DJ of Aticco, taking advantage of the best views of the city.
As you may have noticed, we're not doing too badly, and this is only the most recent First Friday, but we still have many more to go.
Which ones will be next?
The next First Friday will be in March, more specifically on the 1st and it will be related to a special theme of that month: Carnival. Soon we will give you more information so you can reserve that date and go thinking about the perfect costume. Are you going to miss it?
